One of the main application areas of expandable graphite is its use as a flame retardant. As a result of the resulting heat, the graphite expands and forms a bulging layer on the surface of the material. In this way, the formation of toxic gases and smoke, which is one of the most important effects of ignition, is delayed.
Scope of Application
- Insulating foam, e.g. PU rigid foam plates
- Soft foams, e.g. furniture, bedding
- Carpets, textile
- Coatings
- Plastic foils
- Rubber products, e.g. conveyors
- Pipe closing systems
Advantages
- Excellent flame retardancy with low material usage
- Halogen free
- Does not contain heavy metals
- Non polluting
- A wide range of applications
- Reduces smoke generation
- Lower costs
