A highly effective suspension agent, sodium and calcium bentonite are a hydrous aluminum silicate clay used to seal retention, live stock and fish ponds, drainage ditches, city landfills, and sewage lagoons, as well as API drilling applications and more. In addition to being one of the most effective and low-cost methods for treating porous soils, bentonite is also widely used in the cosmetics industry and for recycling water-based paints.

Also known as fluorspar, calcium fluoride is crystalline solid used in high-temperature lubrication, steel fluxing, binding for abrasive wheels, glass production, as a component in synthetic cryolite and more.

With over 120 years of experience, PTC Chemicals provides specialty ground calcium fluoride grades to meet your unique specifications. We also offer two grades of calcium fluoride with nominal sizes of either 98% passing 200-mesh or 70% passing 200-mesh, including:

Metallurgical Grade: used as a flux in both steel and Portland cement production.
Acid Grade: high-purity, used in lubricants, friction products, welding rod coatings, and other applications, as a flux for mineral and ceramic substances, or ceramic glue and sintering aids.

Having a crystal structure similar to graphite, molybdenum disulfide or molybdenite, offers enhanced friction properties in inert atmospheres and under high vacuum environments where other conventional lubricants fail. It also has excellent film-forming properties and is an effective lubricant in moisture-free environments below 450°C or where extreme pressure is present.

A highly versatile synthetic material with similar thermal conductivity and lubricating properties as graphite, hexagonal boron nitride (hBN) is the crystalline powder often referred to as “white graphite.” Boron nitride offers high temperature resistance, is virtually chemically inert, and is electrically resistive for applications where graphite's conductivity is problematic. These products are available as thoroughly de-agglomerated platelets and customizable agglomerates.

Borokote, our proprietary line of high performance boron nitride coatings, is ideal for applications where extreme temperature resistance is required from a lubricant or release coating. We also offer a tinted Borokote with a high-temperature blue indicator for easy visibility on white ceramic substrates.
